Morning Light & Shadow Study
Process Notes: Started with loose graphite gestures to capture the posture. Focused heavily on negative spaces between the wing contours rather than outlining every feather.
The wash was applied wet-on-dry to keep crisp edges around the focal point while allowing the background to fade into the paper tone.
Quick Line Gestures
10-minute continuous line exercise. Resisting the urge to erase makes the movement much more honest and fluid.
Color & Value Contrast
Limiting the palette to two complementary tones to explore how contrast directs the viewer’s eye across the page.
